Fractured

Well… one way to enter a new year is with a fractured ring finger.

A few days ago Taite and Caleb were playing… well wrestling 🙂 – whats new!

and Taite fell… (no surprise) – and landed on his hand wrong.
He cried, yelped a bit – but then seemed fine.

That evening however his finger was blue and swollen.
I just knew something had to be wrong… but we held off taking him in.
After all, weeks earlier Caleb thought he broke his arm, resulting in an ER visit – and then a $1,200 bill
(don’t get me started on the ER bills – its a sin how much they charge)

IMG_0054Ok, so – we waited…
By the morning his finger was still swollen – not as swollen, but enough to take him in.
We went straight to an orthopedic Dr… and they x-rayed his lil finger.

Nothing major was broke, according to that x-ray, just a hair line fracture.

So they splinted it up and told us to take it easy for about a week – then see him back in for a follow up.

We may or may not go to the follow up – we will see how things look in a week and decide.

It def was a lot better going to the ortho straight – rather than the ER. The visit with the ortho was just a $30 co-pay. THAT is reasonable.

Taite looks pretty cute with his little splint – which btw we had to replace when we got home. The one they gave him was HUGE!! – So I made my own out of Popsicle sticks.

I have come to realize, life with rowdy boys… will more than likely equal many more of these accidents.
Its just part of life. – hopefully over time they will learn to be a bit more careful tho 🙂

Oh, yes, life with boys! Some stitches, some broken bones, etc., etc. We feel as though we built an entire wing on the ortho clinic here in Richmond raising 3 boys! And guess what? They are still at it – our oldest, Jed, has acl surgery in 2 weeks! How come? PLAYING soccer! Ha!

Oops! Four boys! See what happens when you raise boys? You forget how to COUNT!
